If you’ve seen a story flying around that the planned Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been canceled, worry not; it’s a nonsense story. The “story” has been making its way around the internet on Friday that the series is canceled after Ewan McGregor exited due to “creative differences,” but that’s not true. The Wrap has confirmed that the story is “totally inaccurate” and that the show is still moving forward without any such creative differences.

Where did the story come from? As a joke, primarily. A Twitter account named “DicsussingFilm” that is labeled as “100% reliable news source! No fake news whatsoever (PARODY ACCOUNT, NOT AFFILIATED WITH @DiscussingFilm)” posted a Tweet on Friday that said “Ewan McGregor has exited the ‘OBI-WAN’ Disney+ series due to creative differences. (Source:

Despite the obvious joke nature of the account, several sites including We Got This Covered covered the story as legitimate. The truth of the matter, per The Wrap, is that there’s no delays or cancellation and all is well.

The series will feature McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan and will be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Deborah Chow is directing the series, with Hossein Amini writing.
