April 1, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that Deadpool will be an R-rated film. As reported yesterday, Reynold said he was “Fighting the good fight” to get the movie an R rating and that there had been a “Lotta yelling today.”

Those hopes were seemingly quashed when JoBlo reported today that they had confirmed that the film would be PG-13, to which Reynolds responded on Twitter:

However, as it turns out that was all an April Fool’s Day joke and Reynolds and JoBlo released a new video with Extra’s Mario Lopez where he confirmed that the film will be rated R. You can check out the video below, in which he also specifically says “He was in [X-Men Origins] Wolverine, but that’s not the character we’re putting on screen right now.”

Deadpool stars Reynolds, Ed Skrein, TJ Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand and Morena Baccarin and will be released on February 12th, 2016. The film tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
