It’s official…a new Evil Dead film is on the way, and it will be with a new director at the helm. Sam Raimi confirmed at New York Comic Con (per ComicBook.com) that he is developing a new Devil Dead

Earlier today we passed along word that Sam Raimi is currently writing a new movie with his brother and DRAG ME TO HELL co-writer Ivan Raimi. I’ve been dying to know what it is and I’ve been looking all over these here internets since. I still haven’t found out. BUT all is not lost as I did find out that while he was at NYCC last night promoting THE GRUDGE, Raimi confirmed he’s developing another EVIL DEAD movie under a new director.

Raimi added that while Bruce Campbell will not be reprising his role in the film, but will be producing it. There’s no word on who the director is, or whether the film will be a follow-up to the 2013 reboot directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Jane Levy as Mia.

Raimi joked about Campbell’s retirement of Ash that the star is “tired of me throwing blood on him. 40 years of Bruce and those sticky syrup shirts… He wants to work again, but he just doesn’t want to play that role right now.”
