Entertainment Weekly reports that Sam Witwer has joined the fourth season of Supergirl as a series regular, where he will play the villain Agent Liberty. Witwer previously played the Superman villain Doomsday in season eight of Smallville.

In the show, Agent Liberty is described as the “ruthless and terrifying” founder and leader of the Children of Liberty, a hate group that wants a human-first world. He’s “a brilliant orator in the guise of a family man” who can easily convince people he’s right.

Other Smallville alumni to appear on the show include Erica Durance (Lois Lane) as Kara’s mother Alura Zor-El and Laura Vandervoort (Supergirl) as Indigo.

Witwer’s addition is the latest cast change after Chris Wood and Jeremy Jordan both departed (with Jordan having a smaller, recurring role in season four) the main cast. Jesse Rath, who plays Brainiac 5, has been promoted to series regular. The series returns October 14 at 8 PM ET on the CW.
