The original John Connor, Edward Furlong, is back in Terminator: Dark Fate. SHH reports that during the Hall H panel for the upcoming Terminator film, Furlong will reprise his role as John Connor for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Furlong joins a cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.

Furlong was the first actor to play the role (alongside a brief appearance by Michael Edwards as the adult John in the future) in T2, but plans were dropped to bring him back for Terminator: Rise of the Machines due to his substance abuse issues. Nick Stahl was cast instead. Since then, Christian Bale and Jason Clarke have played the role of John in Terminator: Salvation and Terminator: Genisys, respectively.

Dark Fate ignores the three most recent films, serving as a direct sequel to Judgment Day. The film picks up decades later as a new type of Terminator is sent back to terminate a new target. This new group of heroes will cross paths with Sarah Connor and the original Terminator who will team up with them to make their own fate. It opens on November 1st.
