Henry Cavill Won’t Play Superman In Shazam! Sequel

Variety reports that Henry Cavill won’t be appearing as Superman in Shazam! Fury of the Gods despite online reports claiming he would.

Superman did briefly appear in the first Shazam!, though he was only shown from the neck down and not played by Cavill. He was also referenced several times in the movie.

Director David F. Sandberg tweeted yesterday that Cavill was originally supposed to play Superman in the first Shazam! and leaving the door open for Cavill to play Superman in the sequel.

“Not going to comment on casting rumors for several reasons. One being you can’t be sure about anything until it’s happened. Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end.”
