Actor Leslie David Baker, best known for his role as Stanley on The Office, has launched a Kickstarter with the goal of raising $300,000 to do a spinoff series called Uncle Stan: Coming Out of Retirement based on the Stanley character.

The last time we saw Stanley at the end of The Office, he had retired from Dunder Mifflin and moved to Florida. The spinoff story is as follows:

“After enjoying his retirement in Florida, carving wood, enjoying the white sand beaches, and dancing to old disco, Uncle Stan (Leslie David Baker) gets a call from his nephew Lucky in Los Angeles asking for help with his two kids and running his motorcycle/flower shop. With his business failing, his kids growing up without enough attention, and on the brink of losing his patience with the cast of characters he has working in the shop, Lucky is going to need all the help he can get from no-nonsense Uncle Stan.”

It’s unclear if Baker even has permission to use the character in a new series, since The Office remains extremely lucrative as one of the most popular shows on Netflix, and the plan for it to move to NBC’s The Peacock streaming service in 2021.
