A week ago, it was reported that three untitled Star Wars films were given release dates. Today, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke at the MoffettNathanson Media & Communications Summit and confirmed that the next of those films shall be headed up by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, co-creators of Game Of Thrones. (h/t Superhero Hype)

“The Benioff and Weiss series will be the next Star Wars movies released,” Iger commented. “We’re hard at work already, but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to gear up for the next film’s release.”

These films are set to release December 16th, 2022, December 20th, 2024 and December 18th, 2026.

Benioff and Weiss’ involvement in the franchise was revealed last year, separate from many other film projects in development surrounding the Star Wars IP, such as the main Skywalker trilogy and a different trilogy from The Last Jedi writer and director Rian Johnson, which currently has no planned release dates.
