Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Episode IX

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is proving to be the anticipated film we all expect it to be, breaking Atom Tickets’ record for first-hour pre-sales. Scott Mendelson of Forbes reports that the film has sold more pre-sale tickets in the first hour than any other film to date, beating Avengers: Endgame’s previous record.

The news comes after the final trailer released on Monday night. Of course, first hour pre-sales leave plenty of room to go, but it’s an exceptional start for what is expected to easily be the biggest film of the holiday season.

The Rise of Skywalker Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher and Ian McDiarmid. It opens in theaters on December 20th.

The current synopsis reads:

Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams join forces once again to take viewers on an epic journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the riveting conclusion of the seminal Skywalker saga, where new legends will be born and the final battle for freedom is yet to come.
