The new live-action, theatrical adaptation of Stephen King’s IT continues to bring in high profits and box office accolades. Additionally, the film has now officially become highest-grossing horror film at the domestic box office in cinematic history (via Variety).

As of yesterday, the film has now grossed $245 million domestically. The film is projected to finish with about $32 million for the weekend, which would increase its total domestic cume to about $265 million. The film has also grossed $171 million overseas for a current worldwide total of $417 million and counting.

Currently, The Exorcist holds the highest grossing worldwide horror movie title with $441.3 million worldwide. However, at $417 million, it should shatter that number very soon. One other note is that the gross does take inflation or adjusted box office figures into account.

IT was produced on a $35 million and will likely shatter more records before its current theatrical run is over. You can check out 411mania’s official review of Stephen King’s IT RIGHT HERE.
