When IT: Chapter 2 arrives next month, it will have a Stephen King-mandated scene that did not exist in the novel. Director Andy Muschietti told Total Film (via SyFy) that King, who of course wrote the book that the films are based on, reached out to him after the first movie to let him know how much he enjoyed it.

“It was absolutely huge,” Muschietti said. “For me, it would be unthinkable when I was 12 or 13.” He went on to say that King read the first draft of the sequel and after making a few notes, requested the addition of “one all-new scene.”

The film is set to release on September 6th and stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, Andy Bean, Bill Skarsgård, Jaeden Martell, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor. It will see the Loser’s Club, all grown up, return to Derry to deal with Pennywise after it re-awakens from its 27-year slumber.
