Steven Spielberg Is First Director To Pass $10 Billion At Box Office

According to statistics from Box Office Mojo (via Entertainment Weekly), Steven Spielberg is the first director ever to earn over $10 billion in lifetime box office gross. This comes after his film Ready Player One earned $114.9 million in the U.S. and $475.1 million worldwide. His biggest hit is Jurassic Park, which earned $983.8 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation). That’s followed by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($786.6 million) and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial ($717 million).

Other directors are close, but not quite there yet. Next in line is Peter Jackson, who has earned about 6,502.7 billion, followed by Michael Bay ($6.451 billion), James Cameron ($6.139 billion), and David Yates ($5.347 billion).
