Steven Spielberg Confirms Conversations About The Goonies Sequel

In an interview on the new web-series, Reunited Apart (h/t JoBlo), Steven Spielberg confirmed that he has had a lot of conversations about a sequel to The Goonies but that none of the ideas they have come up with “hold water.”

“Chris [Columbus, The Goonies screenwriter], Dick, and I — and Lauren [Shuler Donner] — have had a lot of conversations about it,” Spielberg said. “Every couple of years we come up with an idea but then it doesn’t hold water. Until we do, people are just going to have to look at this [livestream] a hundred times!”

Fans of the 1985 film can at least hold on to hope that Spielberg is discussing ideas for a sequel 35 years later.
