If you enjoyed the friendship that has developed between Steve and Dustin in Stranger Things, season three should make you happy. Speaking with EW, Gaten Matarazzo (aka Dustin himself) noted that the upcoming season will make time for the bromance between the two characters.

“You definitely see more of that,” Matarazzo told the site. “That’s what I really like about Matt and Ross [Duffer]: They know what fans like and they roll with it.”

The show’s third season debuts on Netflix on July 4th and will move up a year once again, being set in 1985. Co-creator Matt Duffer gave EW a bit of a preview of what to expect with the season.

“We wanted to explore the theme of change,” he said. “The season takes place during the last summer before high school. The kids are growing up, and that transition is going to be messy and awkward and painful. Are they able to grow up without growing apart?”

Of course, it’s not just about the coming-of-age stuff; there’s the usual sci-fi/terror fun as well. “Eleven closed the Gate, but the Mind Flayer is still alive in the Upside Down,” Duffer said. “It will find another way into Hawkins.… It’s just a matter of time.”
