The 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards awarded their top prizes to CODA, Succession, and Ted Lasso on Sunday night. The SAG Awards were held tonight and saw Succession take the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, while Ted Lasso won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Apple Original Films’ CODA got the coveted award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, which elevates its Best Picture Oscar chances in the eyes of many.

The SAG Awards have been a traditional prognosticator of the individual Academy Awards, though somewhat less so for Best Picture. That’s a good sign for Will Smith, who won Best Male Actor for King Richard, as well as Jessica Chastain who won Best Female Actor for The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Chastain’s chances among oddsmakers have lagged a bit behind Olivia Colman (for The Lost Daughter) and Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) so this should provide a welcome boost for her.

While Succession and Ted Lasso won the top overall show awards, it was Squid Game that took home the most awards. The Netflix South Korean megahit took home three awards: Best Male Actor in a Drama (Lee Jung-Jae), Best Female Actor in a Drama (Lee Jung-Jae) and Best Stunt Ensemble on a TV series.

In addition to the competitive awards, Helen Mirren was presented with the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award by Kate Winslet.
