We reported yesterday that Tavis Smiley has been suspended from PBS following accusations of sexual misconduct. Now TMZ reports that Smiley plans to fight back as he thinks he was “railroaded” during PBS’ investigation of claims that he was having behaving inappropriately with staff members. He also believes the network overreacted.

Smiley said he only knew of the investigation through former staff members that told him they were contacted. When he confronted PBS, investigators spoke to him for three hours. He claims they refused to talk to his current staff or accept any documents that backed up his side of the story. He claims he “never groped, inappropriately exposed myself or coerced any colleague in the workplace ever in my 30 year career.” He said the investigation wasn’t handled properly and he plans to battle them over it.

He added that there is a larger conversation that has to be had about men and women interacting in the workplace.
