The CW is moving a step further with their planned Batwoman series, ordering a pilot for the potential Arrowverse show. TV Line reports that the broadcast network has given a pilot order to the Ruby Rose-fronted series following the character’s debut in last month’s “Elseworlds” crossover.

The network has announced that David Nutter (Game of Thrones, The Flash) will direct the pilot. If ordered to series, the show would be aiming for a premiere this fall.

The Gotham City-set series will follow Rose as Kate Kane, an highly street fighter and out lesbian who has donned the Batwoman persona and “primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.” TV Line reports that Colonel Kane (Kate’s father) and Alice (Kate’s sister and archenemy Elizabeth Kane) are being cast for the series, along with a role “that sounds like Renee Montoya.”

Caroline Dries wrote the pilot for the series.
