There’s going to be a protector looking over Gotham on the CW next season, as Batwoman has been ordered to series. The show’s official Twitter account announced that the network has ordered the Ruby Rose-starring DC show to series, as you can see below.

Rose made her debut as the character during The CW’s “Elseworlds” crossover event earlier this year. The series follows Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne’s cousin, who dons her own Dark Knight-esque suit and acts as the protector of Gotham in Batman’s as-yet-unexplained absence from the city.

Rose stars alongside Dougray Scott as Kate father, Jacob, a former military colonel who commands Gotham’s private security firm The Crows and “has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could”; Rachel Skarsten as Alice, the madcap leader of the Wonderland Gang; Meagan Tandy as military academy graduate Sophie Moore; Camrus Johnson as Lucius Fox’s son Luke; and Nicole Kang as Kate’s step-sister Mary Hamilton.

The pilot was written by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries), who will executive produce the series alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, David Nutter and Marcos Siega. The specific premiere date will likely be announced at The CW’s upfronts on May 16th.
