The Old Guard Star Joins The Rock’s Black Adam

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam movie has added another cast member in The Old Guard’s Marwan Kenzari. Johnson confirmed following an initial report by THR that Kenzari has signed into a role in the DC Comics adaptation, writing:

“Welcome Marwan Kenzari to BLACK ADAM. He brings a real weight and skill and will be that force our story needs.”

Kenzari joins a cast that includes Johnson as the titular antihero, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Doctor Fate is also set to appear in the film, though that role has not yet been cast.

It was announcd at the DC FanDome event last year that the appearances of the other superheroes will set up the Justice Society of America. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing thge film, with Adam Sztykiel having written the current script. It is currently not set for a release date after being pushed back due to pandemic-caused production delays. It is expected to start shooting in April in Atlanta.
