The Rock Says He Turned Down Emmy Hosting Gig, Explains Why

We won’t be seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosting the 2022 Emmy Awards, and the actor explained why in a new interview. As was noted back in June, Emmy producers approached Johnson who was at the top of their wishlist to host the 2022 ceremony, which takes place on September 12th.

Johnson confirmed to ET that he said no, noting that it was strictly an issue of scheduling for the busy star.

“It was just schedule,” he said. “I was really, truly honored when they came to me and asked, but it was just a scheduling thing. That’s all. That’s really what it comes down to.”

Chris Rock also turned down the gig for scheduling reasons, as he is in the middle of his comedy tour and prepping for a special that will take this fall.
