The Sadness Director To Helm Adaptation Of Garth Ennis’ Crossed

Rob Jabbaz made waves with his Taiwanese horror film The Sadness, and he’s tackling similar territory with an adaptation of Garth Ennis’ Crossed. THR reports that Jabbaz has been tapped by Six Studios to direct the upcoming film take on Ennis’ 2008 – 2010 horror comic.
Crossed was published by Avatar Press and is set in a world that is afflicted with a pandemic in which the infected develop a large cross rash on their face and carry out their most evil thoughts, while still carrying their basic intelligence. The comic has spawned follow-up series and webcomic.
Jabbaz’ The Sadness, which was released in 2021 in Taiwan and hit Shudder in 2022, covered similar ground as it documented a pandemic that caused people to become homicidal sadists. Jabbaz has credited Crossed as a “big inspiration” for The Sadness.
“It has been a real delight working with Garth Ennis and Six Studios developing Crossed for the big screen,” said Jabbaz. “From day one, our primary goal has been to deliver a faithful adaptation of the original series, along with a few new surprises. I certainly hope audiences are ready for this.”
Ennis added, “Happy New Year. It’s 2025 and the world is catching up with the world of Crossed in all the wrong ways. So what better time to bring out the movie you’ve all been waiting for?”
