The extra season 10 episodes for The Walking Dead will go in deep on the characters when they arrive next year. Showrunner Angela Kang talked about the six episodes that will push the season into early next year and discussed how the pandemic meant that they strongly explore the characters. You can check out some highlights below via ComicBook.com:

On the plans for the episodes: “The episodes are all designed to be filmed safely during this pandemic that we’re in. There’s sort of an anthological feel to some of them. They’re really deep dives into our characters, which I hope people enjoy.”

On taking a different approach to the episodes: “We’ve been enjoying working on something that’s a little bit different from what we were doing in the main part of Season 10. We just get to feature different people and tell these little stories that all kind of add up to a picture of what our survivors are going through, and that will lead us into Season 11 eventually.”

The show will return to air the original season 10 finale this Sunday on AMC and will conclude the seasonal arc of the Whisperer War. The additional episodes will release in early 2021, and a 24-episode final season will run from late 2021 to late 2022.
