The Walking Dead Included Another Breaking Bad Easter Egg This Week

The Walking Dead - Omega

The Walking Dead is no stranger to paying homage to fellow AMC show Breaking Bad, and it did so again this week. Uproxx and THR note that during this past Sunday’s episode “Omega,” a song was used that would be familiar to fans of the Bran Cranston-led show.

According to the site, during a flashback scene in which Alpha (Samantha Morton) calms her daughter, she uses “Lydia the Tattooed Lady.” That song was the ringtone Lydia in Todd phone in Breaking Bad and plays right before Walt tells Lydia that he poisoned her.

The song was originally recorded by Groucho Marx for 1939’s At the Circus, one of the Marx Brothers’ films during their MGM era. While the use of the song could be coincidental, Walking Dead’s history of paying homage to Breaking Bad — so much so that people have theorized one is a sequel to the other — means that the odds are at least good that the reference was intentional.
