Sonequa Martin-Green is set to star as the central role in Star Trek: Discovery. EW reports that the actress, who plays Sasha on The Walking Dead, will play the lead character of a lieutenant commander in the BCS series, which will launch with a two-hour premiere on CBS in May before going to CBS All Access.

The specifics of Martin-Green’s role aren’t yet known. She joins a cast that includes Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif and Chris Obi.

While this may throw some severe doubt on Sasha’s survivial chances on The Walking Dead, it is concievable that since both have less than the full twenty-plus episode seasons on their networks (TWD has sixteen, Discovery has thirteen), it is possible she may remain on both. An AMC rep has said that Martin-Green is still a series regular.

Star Trek: Discovery takes place about a decade before the original Star Trek and roughly a hundred years after Earth made first contact with the Klingon species. It revolves around a moment that has been mentioned, but never fully explored, within other Star Trek films and shows.
