Thor 4 Moving Ahead With Taika Waititi Back to Write & Direct

Thor is set to continue his adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Taika Waititi returning to write and direct. THR has confirmed that Waititi, who wrote and directed Thor: Ragnarok, will be back with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the god of thunder.

Waititi was set to direct a live-action adaptation of Akira, but that film has been shelved due to some script development issues. While that project got sorted out, it is being put on pause as the planned release date was not likely to be met. As such, he will move on to Thor 4, with Warner Bros. hopeful that he will return to Akira once the Marvel film is complete.

Hemsworth last played the role in Avengers: Endgame, and the events in that film made him likely to appear in the next Guardians of the Galaxy though that has yet to be confirmed.
