Now, on with the show!

Last week we discussed Favorite Superhero Couples! Here’s what some of you had to say:

Vince Basile Jr.: “Batman and Wonder Woman”

Prez Gar: “Ralph and Sue Dibny, the Nick and Nora Charles (or the Johnathan and Jennifer Hart) of the DC Universe. The end of Blackest Night seemed to tease them as continuing their adventures in the afterlife, but nothing has come about.”

Excollector: “My favorite has probably always been Hawkman and Hawkgirl. I have to admit that I’ve never quite forgiven Marvel for breaking up Peter and Mary Jane. Those two were nearly as iconic as Superman and Lois Lane.”

El Atomico: “Hawkeye and Mockingbird were the first couple to come to mind; I remember an issue of West Coast Avengers where the cliffhanger was Mock announcing they were getting a divorce!
Also, Nighthawk and Mink, because, Duh!”

Steed: “Peter Parker and Mary-Jane Watson, Lois and Clark, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, Vision and Scarlet Witch, Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, Rogue and Gambit, Scott Summers and Jean Grey, Polaris and Havok (especially during Peter David’s X Factor run), Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon (although I also loved his chemistry with Starfire), oh and Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy make uite the duo too.”

Anon: “Lois and Clark are at the top of my list. My other faves are Apollo and Midnighter, Scott and Barda, Peter and MJ, Dinah and Oliver, Author and Mera, and Batman and Catwoman.”

Elia Notari: “Mark Grayson and Samantha Eve Wilkins, aka Invincible and Atom Eve.
Guys, there’s more than Marvel and DC”

Jarvin Driftwood: “Shriek and Carnage were an interesting couple as far as villains go. I wish they’d have done (or do) more with them as a pair.”

Kyatollah: “Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales was a cute one, and I’m curious to see if it’ll get revisited in SpiderGeddon or the SpiderVerse movie.”

Reginald Fisterbottom: “Vision and Scarlet Witch.”

professorrev: “Kitty pride and Pete Wisdom”

This week we discuss…

Thoughts on the Batman: Damned Controversy
I can say that I never thought I’d be talking about Batman’s pole in a column but here we are. DC’s Black Label imprint made headlines but not in the way they planned. Or maybe they did plan it that way.

Batman: Damned #1 drew a lot of attention from fans and media for showing Batman’s private parts. On the plus side, the art work is detailed and we get a take on Batman that’s never been done before but the negative reaction completely overshadowed anything else of note.

Comic book store owners and parents have been vocal about the artwork, saying it was unnecessary for the character. Owners especially have complained that it poses issues for them selling it in their stores.

One guy who was taken by surprise by all the attention is writer Scott Snyder, who took to Twitter to talk about it:

“Folks who work with my wife at the hospital asking about this comic book that shows Batman’s junk. Had no idea it was this big a deal. Still don’t get it, but hey.”

DC announced that censored versions of the nude panels featured in Damned #1’s digital release will be used in future reprints of the physical book.

This makes you think what they’re going to do for an encore.

What do you think of the Batman controversy? Gimmick stunt? Gratuitous? A worthy edition to the Batman mythos?

That’s all the time I have. Check out our Comic Book Reviews tomorrow and see you next week!
