Three Crew Members On Scream 5 Test Positive For COVID-19, Production Resumes Monday
Deadline reports that the upcoming fifth Scream movie hit a bump when three members of the crew tested positive for COVID-19. However, this isn’t expected to shut down production, which will continue on Monday. Yesterday’s filming concluded in time for a weekend break.
The reason production is able to continue is that the crew members were not in the primary pod, which includes the actors, director, assistant directors and DP. If that happened, it would be similar to The Batman, which halted production when Robert Pattinson was diagnosed, but has also resumed production.
Productions are using a pod or zone approach to filming during the pandemic, with crew split up in multiple groups, which don’t interact that much. This is how everyone is kept safe and the film is able to proceed. The crew members that tested positive will be put into quarantine and continue to be tested, while there will also be contact tracing.
The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It stars Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Marley Shelton, Jack Quaid, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison and Sonia Ben Ammar. It will be released on January 14, 2022.
