Variety reports that the Netflix docuseries sensation, Tiger King, has reached some impressive viewership for the premium streaming service. Per Nielsen, the docuseries reportedly had 34.3 million unique viewers within the first 10 days of its release (from March 20-29).

This viewership topped the previous Season 2 debut of Stranger Things on Netflix, which recorded 31.2 million unique viewers within its first 10 days of release. By comparison, Stranger Things Season 3 drew 36.3 million views over a similar 10-day span.

The seven-episode limited series weaves a bizarre tale of conflict in the world of big-cat breeders and private zoos. It became a hot topic of discussion on social media at a time when many viewers are stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic. It features Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic, who is the proprietor of an Oklahoma roadside zoo. Joe is later arrested in connection with a murder-for-hire plot after animal activist Carole Baskin tries to shut down big-cat breeders.

Netflix later ranked the show as its No. 1 most popular title in the US over the last two weeks. Netflix bases its Top 10 rankings on how many member accounts will watch a given show or movie over at least two minutes over a 24 hour period. Additionally, Netflix has not provide its own total viewership numbers for Tiger King.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is directed by Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, who also executive produce the show with Chris Smith and Fisher Stevens. The show is streaming now on Netflix.
