Speaking during a company fourth quarter 2018 conference call with the media (via The Wrap), AMC Network Chief Operating Officer Ed Carroll revealed that The Walking Dead franchise has another TV spinoff in the works and in “active development.” This would be the third TV series based on the zombie survival drama. The first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, debuted in 2015.

Regarding the show show, Carroll stated, “That is in active development. He added, “We’re not yet at a stage where we’ll be announcing its plans to premiere. But we have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series.”

According to the executives, the show is still the top drama in the ratings on cable and No. 2 on all of TV, only behind NBC’s This Is Us.

AMC’s The Walking Dead is currently in its ninth season. The show airs Sundays on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead was renewed last year for a fifth season.
