It’ll be an extra year or so before we get a chance to see the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa as it has been delayed to 2024. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has bumped the planned prequel from George Miller from its July 23rd, 2023 release date to May 24th, 2024.

The studio initially set Furiosa’s 2023 date back in December of last year. However, with production not kicking off until sometime next year in Australia and considering the famously lengthy production of Fury Road, it would appear that Warner Bros. wanted extra time built into the schedule.

Furiosa will be a huge production, and is expected to bring upwards of $272 million in US dollars to the local economy. It will star Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character, taking over from Charlize Theron who played her in Fury Road. Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also star in the film.
