HBO is bringing a few less weeks for Westworld fans to passionately decipher when the show returns for season three. The Wrap reports that the upcoming season, which will premiere in the first half of 2020, will consist of eight episodes, two less than each of the first two seasons’ episode count.

It is important to note that the outlet was unable to confirm whether the episodes will still be an hour long, or will consist of a longer runtime for each episode. That’s the strategy that HBO did with Game of Thrones’ final season, which ran only six episodes but had those four of those episodes go about 80 minutes ini length.

This is not intended to necessarily be an end for the show though. HBO boss Casey Bloys said at the TCA press summer tour that there are deals in place with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy “a potential fourth and fifth season” and that they are “100% hands on” despite their new overall deal with Amazon Studios.
