Willow Disney+ Series Adds Erin Kellyman, Cailee Spaeny & Ellie Bamber
Casting is ramping up on the Willow series at Disney+, with three actresses joining the series follow-up to the classic ’80s fantasy film. Deadline reports that Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy), and Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals) are all in talks to play the female leads on the Lucasfilm-produced series, which takes place years after the events of the original film.
Accordingf to the site, the story centers on a group that is “on a mission to save a kidnapped prince.” Bamber will play Dove, “an unassuming kitchen maid who proves that she is the “chosen one” as she embarks on the journey.” Spaeny will play Kid, a princes whose twin brother is the abductee, while Kellyman plays Jade, “a servant who is Kit’s best friend and moral compass. She is on her way to becoming the best young warrior in the kingdom.”
The series will also cast a character with similar traits as Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan from the original film, described as “A thief and liar, he joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison.”
Warwick Davis will reprise his role as Willow Ufgood in the series, the pilot for which is directed by Jon M. Chu. No production date has been set, though the series is looking to return to Wales where the film was shot.
