If you’re hoping to see some teases for future DCEU material in the Justice League Synder Cut, you might want to adjust those expectations a bit. Zack Snyder spoke with Beyond The Trailer for a new interview and discussed his cut of the film, which is of course arriving on HBO Max next year. Snyder talked about how the new cut will fit into continuity, and the short version is that it won’t.

“It’s a good question,” he said. “We shot the movie in 2016, you know. And so it’ll be five years old when it comes out. For me, I’ve been living with it for that long. So I think that — and frankly, the DC cinematic universe has branched like a tree and blossomed and grown in amazing and great ways. Like, look, I’m a producer on Wonder Woman 1984, and I’m excited with what Patty [Jenkins]’s done with that movie and it’s amazing and I love that character. And I love Gal, it’s very close to me. And so that’s great, that’s amazing to me.”

He went onto say, “But for me, in like, where the movie falls, it’s sort of — I believe that it really starts to represent its own path. It’s kind of separate now from what I would say the DC cinematic universe in continuity. I think it’s divergent in that way, and I think that’s a good thing, and I think the power of DC and one of it’s cool strengths is that multiverse concept. And also how they put filmmakers first and say ‘Hey guys, we want to hear your individual voices.”

Aske when a new tease of the Justice League film may be seen, he teased that a clip may appear at Justice-Con this Saturday, noting that it is “a small clip”
