Zack Snyder says that he was hoping to bring several other Batman characters into the DCEU had he continued on it, including Catwoman and more. Snyder spoke with BroBible promoting the Army of the Dead prequel Army of Thieves and was asked about what Batman villains he would have brought into the cinematic universe.

“Very much so,” Snyder replied to a question about if he would have introduced The Penguin. “Obviously Catwoman is someone we talked about and we had a Riddler concept that we talked about. Remember, The Riddler was kind of like the one who figured out the Anti-Life Equation on Earth in the spec scripts.”

Snyder, of course, directed three DCEU films in Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League (with Snyder’s own cut of that film releasing on HBO Max). He exited the DCEU due to a variety of issues and doesn’t expect to make more entries.

Snyder added that he’d “love to see Penguin — I think will be cool. I think that’s a great character and I’d love to see a version of Penguin that has an inherent camp to it. It’d be awesome to see how you could deconstruct it and make him into something crazy.”

We will see a version of Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman as played by Colin Farrell, along with Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), Riddler (Paul Dano), and more. That film will debut in theaters on March 4, 2022.
