TMZ reports that Bono had to abruptly cancel a scheduled U2 concert on Saturday (Sept. 1) during the show when his voice started going out. The concert was being held on Saturday in Berlin, Germany.

A few songs into the set, Bono had to cut the event short. According to the report, Bono sounded fine at the beginning of the show before his voice later gave out.

Bono apparently gave the crowd an option to reschedule the event or take a 10-15 minute break. His meaning for the break wasn’t clear since he apparently was not going to be able to make it back onstage.

U2 later released the following joint statement:

“We’re so sorry for tonight’s cancellation. Bono was in great form and great voice prior to the show and we were all looking forward to the second night in Berlin, but after a few songs, he suffered a complete loss of voice. We don’t know what has happened and we’re taking medical advice.”
