TMZ reports that Chris Brown and two members of his team have been arrested in Paris, France by French police due to a claim that Brown sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel. French authorities have confirmed that Brown is detained and in custody for alleged aggravated rape and narcotics offenses.

Brown is currently being processed by the authorities. The alleged victim claims she met Brown overnight between the dates of January 15 and 16 at club Le Crystal. After that, they went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where she claims she was raped by Brown.

As of now, investigators have two days to file preliminary charges for Brown or let him go. Three days after the alleged incident occurred, Brown was seen at Le Cirque Club in Paris, France. He was said to have been there with Ammika Harris, a woman he is said to be in a relationship with.

In two days, the authorities have to release Brown or have him appear in court. There, a prosecutor can ask the judge to keep Brown in custody pending trial or let him go free with some “obligations.” If Brown is released due to some obligations, he could have to surrender his passport to French authorities. Then, he would likely have to remain in Paris until there is a trial. That could take up to a year.

This is not Chris Brown’s first brush with the law. He was previously brought up on a felony assault and making criminal threats after attacking Rihanna in Los Angeles. He pled guilty to the felony charge and was sentenced to community service, five years probation and domestic violence counseling as a result of the incident.

Last May, Chris Brown was sued by a woman claiming she was raped at a party at the singer’s home. She claimed Brown gave attendees at the party drugs and one of his friends was the one who raped her. The claims were investigated after the report was filed, but the Los Angeles Police Department could not determine if the act was forced or consensual. The lawsuit is still an ongoing matter.
