Taylor Swift isn’t just a multi-platinum pop superstar; according to Dave Grohl, she can be analogous to Batman when the situation calls for it. During a performance at the Cannes Lion festival on Wednesday night, the Foo Fighters frontman told a story about the time Swift saved him from being embarased in front of the legendary Paul McCartney.

Telling the story, Grohl said he was at a party at McCartney’s house when the Beatles icon performed a song on the piano. Grohl said, “[McCartney] finishes the song and everybody looks at me like, ‘Come on, Dave! Play a song!’”

Noting that he couldn’t play piano and all the guitars were left-handed in the house (McCartney is a southpaw), Grohl added, “And also, I…maybe smoked a little pot,” adding to his disadvantage in the moment. He continued, “All of a sudden, Taylor Swift stands up and is like, ‘I’ll play a song,’ and I’m like, ‘Ugh, thank God Taylor Swift’s here.’ Like f—ing Batman when you need him.”

Grohl said that she got on the piano and Grohl picked up a bass off the wall, and Swift began playing a piano melody. “It was kind of like one of those nightmares where you’re running backwards and always late for whatever you got to go to,” he said. Suddenly he recognized the song. “She was f—ing playing our song ‘Best of You.’ As if I weren’t high enough, that f—ing blew me into outer space.”
