The government of Dubai has put a damper on R. Kelly’s hopes for permission to travel there for work amidst his trial on sex abuse charges. TMZ reports that the Dubai Media Office has issued a statement denying the singer’s claims during a hearing on Friday in which his lawyers asked for travel permission because he may have a need to head to the city for potential work.

According to the outlet, the Media Office’s statement read, “Authorities in Dubai have not received any request for a performance by singer R. Kelly nor are there any venues that have been booked.” Kelly’s legal team submitted the request to the judge in his sex abuse case on Friday, and the judge continued the motion.

Kelly is standing trial for ten counts of sex abuse involving four girls, three of whom were minors.
