Frank Ocean Suing Producer For Trying to Get Co-Writing Credit on Blonde

February 20, 2018 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Frank Ocean has filed a lawsuit against the producer of his last album for trying to get a credit for co-writing some of the songs on the LP. TMZ reports that Ocean filed a lawsuit against Om’Mas Keith, who he hired in 2014 to produce master recordings for Blonde. According to the lawsuit, Om’Mas registered with ASCAP, who manages songwriter royalties, and claimed he co-wrote eleven songs on the album. The songs he claimed credit for included “Pink + White,” and “Ivy.”

Ocean said in the documents that he hired and paid the producer a flat fee to produce the recordings and did not solicit input on the songs. He says that Om’Mas did not write the the lyrics, melody or music and is asking a judge to block Om’Mas’ attempts to get songwriting credits.
