Grammy Nominations Delayed To Later This Week

December 3, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

Variety reports that the announcements for the 61st annual Grammy Award nominations have been moved to December 7. They were originally set for Wednesday, but are being pushed back due to memorial services for President George H.W. Bush. Select categories will be announced live on CBS This Morning and Apple Music at 8:30 AM ET. Nominations for all 84 categories will then be available on at 8:45 ET. The award ceremony airs on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10, 2019.

This year’s nominations follow several changes from the Recording Academy, including the extension of nominations in General Field (record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist) from five to eight.

A press release stated: “This change will better reflect the large number of entries in these categories and allow voters greater flexibility when selecting this year’s best recordings.
