Rolling Stone reports that rapper Ja Rule performed during the halftime show at Saturday night’s (Feb. 23) Milwaukee Bucks game, and his performance went viral. The game was scheduled with a 90s Night theme.

Speaking on the occasion, Ja Rule said before the performance, “They said this was Nineties night, so they brought out a 2000s artist. But my album came out in ’99 so I guess that counts.” When Ja Rule signaled to start the performance, there were some sound and technical issues. After asking “Are we ready” and getting no reaction from the crowd, he said, “I guess we’re not.”

Due to the delay, Ja Rule performed while the Bucks players started doing some warm-up shots. When people started knocking the performance on Twitter, Ja Rule responded, “Y’all really be on my d***… let’s be CLEAR my sound was fucked up at first and didn’t come on when it was supposed to but I rocked that bitch… thanks for the love Milwaukee!!! Great win my streak continues… lol.” He also commented on the players taking warm-up shots during the act, “Y’all act like this is not normal at halftime shows.”

You can check out some footage and images of the performance below.
