Jam Central Station: Lockn’ Festival Preview

August 12, 2017 | Posted by Jeff Modzelewski

Lockn’ is returning for it’s fifth year! As other festivals have moved towards more diverse lineups, Lockn’ stepped up in 2013 to fill the void. Lockn’ is unapologetically jam band focused. No conflicts, longer sets, and a fan base that they’ve developed a base that is 100% focused on the music. Fans go to Lockn’ to see great sets by great artists, and Lockn’ delivers. Legends like John Fogerty and Tom Petty, huge jam names like Phish and The Allman Brothers, a variety of Dead-related bands, and up-and-comers from Turkuaz to TAUK. 2017 looks to follow the path that the previous years have laid out.

After landing 2 nights of Phish last year, it would be tough for Lockn’ to top that. That doesn’t mean they didn’t give a great effort. 2017 will feature The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, Widespread Panic, The Avett Brothers, Phil Lesh (including a set with members of moe.), John Fogerty, Greensky Bluegrass, John Butler Trio, The Disco Biscuits, The Revivalists, and I could just keep going. It is, top to bottom, filled with some of the best live acts around in many different genres. Rock, folk, bluegrass, country, and even livetronica. It is simply packed. And the best part is, for most of the day you can find your seat and at the main stage and just stay there. No conflicts, no running between stages, just great music all in one spot.

Infinity Downs in Arrington, VA. A big, beautiful field, perfect for a big, beautiful festival

August 24-27.

Lockn’ has gone from a great idea to a festival that gets better every year. They know what their goal is. They know what they’re trying to put together. And they pull it off flawlessly. If you’re looking for a festival that is focused on the music and bringing that to the fans in the best way possible, Lockn’ is the festival for you.
