Pitchfork reports that Jay-Z is currently working on a new Prince album that will be released through the streaming service TIDAL. Roc Nation was sued in 2016 by Prince’s estate after claiming exclusive streaming rights to Prince’s music, but that has been settled. The album will be full-length and include previously unreleased tracks. It’s due in 2019 and will be exclusive to TIDAL for two weeks.

Jay-Z said in a press release: “Our only goal is to share Prince’s music with his fans as he wanted. After thoughtful and honest conversation with him, he chose TIDAL as his partner for HITnRUN Phase One and HITnRUN Phase Two, and we will continue to respect and honor Prince’s enduring legacy and wishes with this new collection.

The partnership between TIDAL and Prince’s estate “does not involve any of Prince’s music catalogue that is subject to prior agreements with Warner Brothers Records.”

The songs were previously exclusive to TIDAL but eventually went to Spotify, Apple Music and others in 2017. A new “time-specific” album of unreleased material will debut in September 2018.
