Kid Rock Mentioned As Possible Senate Candidate in Michigan

Roll Call reports that Kid Rock (real name Robert Ritchie) has been mentioned as a possible choice to run for Michigan Democrat Debbie Stabenow’s Senate seat next year by Republicans in the state. He was mentioned at a Michigan Republican Party convention last weekend, but no official decisions have been made.

Kid Rock previously said he votes Republican be sees himself as “more Libertarian” when asked about it by Rolling Stone in 2013. He’s supported major Republican candidates in the past, including Mitt Romney (2012), Ben Carson (2016) and Donald Trump (2016). He even sold Trump merchandise in his official store, including t-shirts with the phrase “God, Guns & Trump” in red, white and blue.

Stabenow has been in office since 2000. Inside Elections things she’ll win again, but Republicans are more confident after Trump won the state, the first GOP presidential candidate to win there since 1988.
