Kim Kardashian Posts Video of Kanye West Talking With Taylor Swift About “Famous” Lyric

Kim Kardashian has posted video of Kanye West’s phone call he said that he had with Taylor Swift about his song “Famous,” in which he raps about maybe having sex with her. Kardashian put the videos on SnapChat and then promoted with a Twitter post that read “do u guys follow me on snap chat? u really should ;-)” You can see the series of videos below (cut together into two vids) via Twitter.

This is a bit involved, so lets do some catch-up here. On “Famous,” a track from Kanye’s The Life of Pablo, Kanye raps, “For all my Southside ni***s that know me best/I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous/God damn/I made that bitch famous.” Kanye had claimed after the track released that he had Taylor Swift’s permission to record it, saying, “I did not diss Taylor Swift and I’ve never dissed her…[I] called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings.”

Swift, for her part, said, “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.’”

In the video, Kanye recites a portion of the song, particularly the line “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.” The video is edited, but Taylor seems to say of the lyric, “It’s like a compliment, kind of.” At no time in Kardashian’s video, however, does Kanye say the line “I made that bitch famous” that Swift’s reps say she objected to. Kardashian said in a recent interview that Swift became aware after the fact that the conversation was recorded and threatened Kanye not to release the tape, claiming that it’s illegal. Clearly, that didn’t stop Kim.

Swift then posted to Instagram in a (for her) unusually direct statement, saying:

That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet.
