Meek Mill Files For Appeal To Pennsylvania Supreme Court

Earlier this week, it was reported that Meek Mill was denied a new trial in his case, after Judge Genece Brinkley claimed the fact that the arresting officer may be corrupt had no bearing on the verdict. Now TMZ reports that Meek has officially filed an appeal with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court three days later. Brinkley had claimed that Meek didn’t meet burden of proof, although even the District Attorney thought Meek deserved a new trial. The alleged corrupt officer was the only witness in his 2008 trial and is in the middle of a huge police scandal.

Meek’s legal team said that Brinkley had already made her decision before the hearing and claim she is not impartial because she “acted like a prosecutor, not a judge.” The prosecutor, by the way, also believes Meek deserves a new trial. The legal team accused Brinkley of laughing at one of their witnesses. They also spoke of an incident in which Brinkley said, “… because obviously we know that it’s going to go to another court after here.”

Meek’s attorney Brian McMonagle asked if she’s implying that she made up her mind and she denied it. His other lawyer, Joe Tacopina, called Brinkley’s ruling a “miscarriage of justice.”
