The shoes that Michael Jackson wore during his famous first moonwalk are going up for auction. CNN reports that the Florsheim Imperial leather shoes that Jackson wore while rehearsing his performance of “Billie Jean” for the Motown 25 special in 1983 are set to go up on the auction block through GWS Auctions. The rehearsal marked the first time he did the dance move on stage.

“Anything related to Michael Jackson is extraordinary, and to have something so incredibly historical as these shoes worn by Michael when he first did that now famous moonwalk is beyond special,” Brigitte Kruse, owner of GWS Auctions, told the outlet. “We are so very honored to be able to offer them at auction.”

The auction house is giving the shows a “very conservative estimate” of $10,000, noting, “These shoes are in wonderful condition for their age, with evident signs of use to the soles.” It is also possible — though not confirmed — that Jackson wore the same shoesz during the live performance on Motown 25.

Choreographer and dancer Lester Wilson is the owner of the shoes, having been given them by Jackson. Jackson died in 2009 at his home near Los Angeles at the age of fifty.
