Ne-Yo Defends Michael Jackson, Says He Shouldn’t Be Compared to R. Kelly

Ne-Yo is coming to Michael Jackson’s defense ahead of a documentary about his alleged sexual crimes, saying he shouldn’t be compared to R. Kelly. The R&B singer was asked by TMZ about the Jackson and Kelly allegations and said that unlike Kelly, there is no video evidence that Jackson abused anyone.

In Kelly’s case, he appears to be referring to the infamous video of Kelly allegedly urinating on a minor in 2002. Ne-Yo said he’s never watched that video and assumed when they toured together back in 2007 that the video was fake, but that he has since come around.

Ne-Yo argued that some of Jackson’s accusers recanted after the pop icon’s death. The upcoming documentary will debut at Sundance and details Jackson’s alleged sexual abuse of young boys. Meanwhile, Kelly is of course at the center of a firestorm over the Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, which featured several allegations regarding Kelly running a sex cult that includes the physical, emotional and sexual abuse of underage girls. Kelly is being criminally investigated in Georgia, with another investigation possibly on the way in Chicago.
