TMZ released a report today that sources are claiming R. Kelly was once abusive toward his ex-girlfriend, Halle Calhoun. Per the report, sources close R. Kelly’s ex-girlfriend, Halle Calhoun, claim that the singer abusively attacked Calhoun backstage at a concert in 2017.

According to the report, Calhoun was about 19 or 20 and living with R. Kelly at the time the attack happened. She was attending one of his concerts when R. Kelly allegedly came backstage and accused her of looking at another man. In response, Calhoun is said to have shoved the singer first. R. Kelly then retaliated by grabbing her by her clothes “around her neck” and then threw her “like a rag doll into a wall”

The incident reportedly took place with multiple witnesses present for the attack, including Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary. Both women are subjects for the Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly. The attack reportedly broke a beloved necklace of a cross that belonged to a family member. TMZ sources also state there were two other violent incidents, including R. Kelly slapping Calhoun because he thought she was looking at a group of men as they entered a hotel.

R. Kelly’s camp is denying the allegations and claimed that the singer is not a violent person. A source close to R. Kelly claimed if those incidents ever took place, then someone would’ve recorded them on video and sold them a long time ago.

Calhoun had reportedly been the singer for about a year at the time of alleged attack. She would then go on to end their relationship at the end of 2017. She later returned home to Georgia and currently dates the rapper Rocko.

A source close to Calhoun stated that it’s good that Calhoun stopped dating him in time before things got worse.
