UPDATE 2: TMZ reports that R. Kelly has turned himself into police in Chicago, Illinois after being charged with sexual abuse of four girls, three of whom were minors. He turned himself in on Friday night at a police station in Chicago, Illinois after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The allegations against the singer are said to be extremely graphic. Attorney Michael Avenatti is reportedly representing at least one of the alleged victims in the indictment against Kelly. Additionally, Avenatti stated that he plans to go after the enablers of R. Kelly, including the singer’s lawyers, managers, agents and others whom he says protected the singer as he abused young girls. Avenatti says he will bring them to justice.

Avenatti also stated that the 2008 trial for R. Kelly was rigged by threats and payoffs. Criminal sexual abuse is a class 2 felony in Illinois. Each one carries a maximum sentence of three to seven years in prison.

UPDATE: In a press conference this afternoon, Cook County District Attorney Kim Foxx revealed the dates that the alleged sexual abuse by R. Kelly occurred:

* Victim 1: May 26th, 1998 and May 25th, 1999
* Victim 2: September 26th, 1998 and September 25th, 2001
* Victim 3: February 18th, 2003
* Victim 4: May 1st, 2009 and January 31st, 2010

She also said that they expect Kelly to appear in bond court on Saturday.

ORIGINAL: It’s official — R. Kelly has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse by the Cook County State’s Attorney. TMZ reports that 9 of the 10 counts involve alleged victims that are between 13 and 16 years old. In total, there are four alleged victims in the charges.

The charges include oral and vaginal sex with a girl who was between 13 and 17 years old. The criminal complaint says Kelly “transmitted his semen onto [the alleged victim’s] body for the purpose of Robert Kelly’s or [the alleged victim’s] sexual gratification or arousal, by the use of force or threat of force.”

Kelly is apparently planning to turn himself in tonight but the Associated Press reports that a no-bail arrest warrant has been issued for him.

Sexual abuse charges in Illinois are a class 2 felony with each charge holding a maximum sentence of 3-7 years in prison.

This all comes after lawyer Michael Avenatti turned over a sex tape that allegedly featured Kelly and an underage girl (Kelly and the girl allegedly refer to the girl’s body parts as being 14 years old in the video) to authorities, sparking a grand jury investigation which featured two alleged victims of his testifying last week. As many as a dozen women have reportedly come forward to testify. The tape Avenatti turned over is said to be crucial to the case against Kelly.

This case is separate from the two other new Kelly accusers who have come forward this week and are being represented by Gloria Allred. Those two accusers claim that they were underage when they allege sexual misconduct by Kelly. That incident allegedly occurred in 1998 at a hotel room in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, the family of Joycelyn Savage, one of Kelly’s alleged sex slaves/girlfriends who was prominently featured in Surviving R. Kelly (the documentary that sparked new interest in Kelly’s controversial past), plans to once again attempt to make contact with her after Kelly is arrested, according to their lawyer.
